Welcome to Women in Security!

Our Vision

Women in Security – ISSA Denver is an organization dedicated to recognizing and promoting the role of women in cybersecurity; to providing support and solutions for issues women face in their cybersecurity careers; to building an environment for women to network, counsel, mentor and openly support each other; and to creating an atmosphere where women can feel safe to open up.

Meetings

Our meetings will be quarterly, and will be held for 3 hours in the evening – each event will generate 1.5 CPEs.  The meetings are open to all women and to those who support women in cybersecurity.  Meetings are free for Denver ISSA members; membership in ISSA is strongly encouraged.

This is your group

The success of Women in Security depends upon the involvement of its members.  Attending events, suggesting topics, volunteering to speak/assist/mentor or do a special project - all of these activities will make a strong group that will contribute to the well-being and success of its members.  If you have thoughts, contact one of the Women in Security SIG coordinators below:

Our Next Event

From Private Sector to Academia  – Women’s Gains in Cybersecurity

Thursday, March 14th, 2023 from 5:30 - 8:00 pm MDT                                    Wynkoop Brewery, downtown Denver

Join Denver ISSA's Women in Security and WiCys for a night of networking and learning about the gains women have made in cybersecurity. You will hear from two speakers - Mary Haynes, Group Vice President of Network Security, Charter Communications, and Gretchen Bliss, Director of Cybersecurity Programs at CU Colorado Springs.  These two speakers will provide insight into both the private and academic sectors.

The event will be held in the Morey-Brown room at the Wynkoop Brewery, 1634 18th St. , Denver, CO  80202, beginning at 5:30 pm MT.  The event is free and open to women and men who support women in cybersecurity.

We have also partnered with Community Works, which helps to "empower people through meaningful employment opportunities."  Part of what they do is provide professional clothes for their clients, so we are holding a clothes drive. If you have any gently used professional clothing you were planning to get rid of, please bring it with you to our event to donate.
